Biography
In memory of my father, who was not a Holocaust victim, but clandestinely helped hundreds of Jewish people to escape by train and packet steamer, from Paris to the new Israel. Here, in 1948, he was a founder member of Kfar Hanassi and also built and manned a defensive radar station which was successfully used during the first Arab-Israeli war. Prior to this, 1945-1948, he was one of the first commissioned Petty Officer Radio Mechanics, on HMS Norfolk. Then, in 1959, he manned and maintained cold-war listening stations in the Arctic. In 1967, at great risk to himself, my mother, and I, he sheltered and helped many Igbo people to escape the forthcoming Biafran war.
