Family Riesel

Family Riesel consisted of:- Baruch Riesel (Father & Husband, very cultured & especially learned. He was orthodox but very modern. Baruch owned a small store;) Elke Riesel (Wife & Mother;) Sabine Riesel (Daughter;) Sofie Riesel (Daughter:) My father, Josef Riesel, the family's son, was the only survivor. They were a family of multi linguists and musicians. They lived in Vienna but had been moved out of their home, after the "Anschluss." Then on 12th May 1942, the Nazis rounded them up, put them on "Transport No.20" to Izbica, Lublin Poland and they were never heard of again. There was no record of them having arrived anywhere, consequently, we must assume that they either died in that Transport or were immediately murdered on arrival. At the end of the war, the agency for missing people and Yad Vashem simply said marked as perished. Their only "crime?" - Being Jewish..........
